Single major Newhouse and dual Newhouse/iSchool first-year and sophomores:
If you have completed fewer than 60 credits, you have an advising hold which needs to be removed before you can register for classes. Advising holds require that you consult with a member of the advising staff about your next semester’s classes.
To have your advising hold removed, follow these steps:
- 1. Complete this form. List alternate or back-up classes on the right side. Alternate choices might include different sections or meeting times for the same class, or a completely different course. Alternates are important, as courses will close as registration moves along.
- 2. Save this form as a PDF. In most modern browsers, you can press Ctrl + P (Windows) or Cmd + P (Mac) to print the page. However, on the next screen, change the print destination to 'save as PDF'.
- 3. E-mail this form to the Undergraduate Advising Office at NHadvise@syr.edu, at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled registration day and time. Your hold will then be removed.
